Opal Bess Lambert Adkisson

Opal Bess Lambert Adkisson, 96, of Paragould and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at The Greenhouse Cottages of Belle Meade in Paragould.

Opal was born to Clarence and Erna Fisher Bess and was retired from Farmer’s Bank where she worked as a bookkeeper. After retirement, she worked at the Nucor cafeteria and was also a hospice volunteer. Opal loved the Lord and was a former member of Blytheville First Church of the Nazarene where she was the song leader and a Sunday school teacher. She was an active member of Faith Treewill where she sang in the choir. Opal enjoyed quilting and listening to Christian music. Her family was most important to her and she always loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Lambert, Jr.; sons, Ira Gene Lambert and Wayne Lambert; brothers, J.A. Bess and Willard Bess; and sister, Glenda Enderson.

Opal is survived by her grandchildren, Gina Lambert Wilson and her husband Carl of Jonesboro, Lisa Lambert Oppenheim and her husband Tim of Manassa, Vir., Brock Lambert and his wife Amy of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Allison Lambert Louks and her husband Ron of Greenville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Brentney Riggs and her husband Derek of Blytheville, Lauren Turner and her husband Tyler of Jonesboro, Andrew C. Wilson and his wife Olivia of Jonesboro, Sarah Oppenheim of Brooklyn, N.Y., Anna Oppenheim of Manassas, Vir., Luke Brodeur and his wife Emma of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Grant Brodeur of Greenville, N.C.; great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy Grace and Mason Riggs and Wilson James Turner; and daughters-in-law, Glenna Lambert of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Judy Lambert of Memphis, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chuck Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.
