Robert Byrd

Robert Byrd, 83, of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Robert was born to Ernest B. and Marie Green Byrd. He was a master electrician and retired from Entergy after 32 years. Robert served his country with honor in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and he always enjoyed cooking for any of their events. Robert was an expert when it came to cooking, especially barbecuing, frying fish and wild game. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Byrd; and sisters, Martha Crump, Barbara Betts and Cora Lee Bryant.

Robert is survived by his wife, Janis Byrd of Blytheville; children, Robert Byrd, Jr. and his wife Joie of Brookland and Joy Daniel Smith and her husband Joseph of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Jacob Daniel and his wife Andi, Noah Daniel, Tyler Byrd and his wife Lauren and Amanda Allison; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Byrd and Tyler Byrd, Jr.; brother, John Allen Byrd and his wife Rhonda of Dyersburg, Tenn.; and sisters, Rebecca Lanier and her husband Archie of North Carolina, Linda Byrd of North Carolina and Tonya Haile of Illinois.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Hyde and Earl Allmon officiating. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com
