Mr. Alvin C. “Buddy” Lane III, 76, of Blytheville, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born in Blytheville to the Late Alvin Lane, Jr. and Jane Medlin Lane. After graduating from Blytheville High School, he joined the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS John F. Kennedy. He married Pam Fowler on Dec. 27, 1969.

At a young age he began to work with his father and grandfather at Medlin and Lane Electric Motor Repair. After his father’s retirement, he became the co-owner until it closed in 2004. He then owned and operated Lane Electric, LLC. until his retirement in 2017. Buddy was very active at First Baptist Church in Blytheville. He also did extensive volunteer work at the church, including installing the sound system as well as a considerable amount of electrical work throughout the buildings. He always did his best to fix anything for anyone. He enjoyed traveling the country for many years with Pam. Together they visited 46 states and Canada. They always had plans to visit the other four as well. He also learned to fly airplanes from his son. They spent many hours high above the earth enjoying the incredible views of God’s creation. Flying was something he had dreamed of learning to do for much of his life. Buddy had a gift for figuring out how things worked.

Buddy leaves his wife of 52 years, Pam Lane; two sons, Scott Lane of Jonesboro and Michael Lane and his wife Elizabeth of Chesterfield, Vir.; five granddaughters, Anna, Sarah, Haley, Abigail and Sidney Lane; and sister, Jane Atchley of Blytheville.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Bill Caudle and Rev. Jim Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Buddy’s honor to First Baptist Church in Blytheville.
