Dorothy “Ann” Ashmore Beard

Tuesday, May 3, 2022

Dorothy “Ann” Ashmore Beard, 72, of Blytheville, passed away at Benedictine Living Community on May 1, 2022, in Saint Peter, Minn. We included her legal first name, but she hated “Dorothy” so don’t call her that.

Ann was born in Blytheville to Wilmer Ray Ashmore and Margie Lois Wilson Ashmore in 1949. She attended Blytheville High School, completed her GED, and attended Mississippi County Community College. Ann married her high school sweetheart and soulmate Ronald Lynn Beard on June 3, 1996, in Blytheville. She worked as a cosmetologist for 35 years and was the owner and operator of “Trendsetters”, serving beloved clients and friends. She was a licensed pilot with flights to the Central American nation of Belize and Lake Tahoe, Nev. Ann was a classy lady who fiercely loved and protected her children and grandsons and was so proud of each one of them. She also loved her extended family and viewed their pictures and posts on Facebook often. Later in life, Ann was content to be left alone, drink Coke, watch TV, and talk on the telephone with family. She lived an independent life the way she wanted, which is all any of us could ask for.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Beard; sisters, Jeanie Canamore and Mona Ashmore; brother, Hugh “Robbie” Ashmore; and parents, Margie Ashmore and Ray Ashmore; and other beloved family members.

Ann is survived by her son, Keary Ashmore and his wife Robin; daughter, Deann Dusto Schloesser and her husband Shawn; sister, Susie Ashmore; and six grandsons, Paul Melton, Ethan Ashmore, Christian Ashmore, Riley Schloesser, Liam Schloesser and Noah Ashmore.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, at 3 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Holifield officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery next to her beloved spouse and friend, Ronald Beard. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.

Flowers or plants are welcomed by immediate family members, but the family requests that in lieu of flowers, friends and acquaintances focus on spending extra time remembering or visiting with family, especially mothers, this Mother’s Day weekend.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Saint Croix Hospice, Benedictine Living Community and Klein Chapel Funeral Home in Saint Peter, Minn., and Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville. Special mention goes to Jen, Samira and Kylie at Saint Croix Hospice for providing outstanding care for our mother, who was loved beyond measure.
