Cleatus Eugene Dobbins

Cleatus Eugene Dobbins, 87, of Manila, passed from this life Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at his home. Born in Pocahontas, he was the son of the late Austin and Bertha Jones Dobbins and had been a lifelong area resident. Eugene was a 1952 graduate of Manila High School and attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He retired in 1998 from the Natural Resources Conservation Service as an SCS technician with 23 years of service. He was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church in Manila where he had served many years as Sunday school director, song leader, teacher, usher and on many committees. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Irene Thompson, and two brothers, Sallee Dobbins and Glenn Dobbins.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Imogene Evans Dobbins of the home; son, Cleatus Eugene Dobbins, Jr. of Manila; one brother, Lenn Dobbins of St. Louis, Mo.

Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, in the Manila Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Hawkins officiating. The family will receive visitors Friday morning from 9:30 until service time at Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael Mattingly, Chris Crook, Randy Frakes, Frank Kirby, Greg Hawkins, Earl Jackson, Gerald Bebout and Jim Veach.
