Samuel L. “Sam” Gilbert, Jr.

Samuel L. “Sam” Gilbert, Jr., 77, departed this life Jan. 29, 2022, at his residence in Marked Tree. He was born on Dec. 16, 1944, in Marked Tree to Samuel L, Sr. and Helen Frances Frazier Gilbert. He loved to fish and hunt deer and rabbits, teaching his family how to work on vehicles, loved riding the roads, he had a big heart and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Joyce Ann Gilbert; his parents; three brothers, Frank, Johnny and J.L. Gilbert; and two sisters, Sammie Jean Farmer and Juanita Egbert.

Samuel is survived by three sons, Rex Gilbert (Connie) of Paragould, Brian Gilbert of Marked Tree and Jason Gilbert (Deanna) of Marked Tree; one daughter, Brenda Shannon (Trey) of Wilson; one brother, Jimmy Gilbert of Hardy; one sister, Sue Outtiwell of Memphis; 12 grandchildren, Adam, Bailey, Madison, Breanna, Melanie, Makenzie, Brilynn, Bristol, Jeramy, Zeb, Houston, Austin, Zeb, Jr. and Charlotte.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 3:15 p.m. in Marked Tree Cemetery and visitation is from from 2-3 p.m. at Delancey Funeral Home in Marked Tree.

Arrangements are under the care of Delancey Funeral Home, Marked Tree.
