Carolyn Rose Ripley Moseley, 92, of Blytheville, born Sept. 9, 1929, passed away Jan. 7, 2022.

Born and raised in El Dorado, she met the love of her life Charles Elijah Moseley Jr. at the University of Arkansas. Upon her graduation with a degree in Business and as a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, they moved to Blytheville. Many of the cherished times over their 49 years together were on afternoon drives surveying the soybean and cotton crops, enjoying family gatherings, and outings to Oaklawn Racetrack. Carolyn described herself as “the cricket on the hearth” given her pleasure to reading, needlepoint, playing bridge, cooking, and watching all things Razorback and Cardinals on television.

For almost 70 years, Carolyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blytheville and its choir. Daily devotionals and her Tuesday Church Circle were significant in her religious commitment. Though tiny in stature, she was a mighty force guided by faith and love of her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elijah, of Blytheville; her parents, F.M. Methvin and Bertha Connor Methvin of El Dorado; brother Charles and Ann Ripley of El Dorado.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilynn and Dr. Robert A Porter Jr. of Little Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Mark Allen and Cathy Carson Moseley of Blytheville; her niece and husband, Fliece Ripley Gates and Stephen Gates of Fayetteville.

To also carry on her legacy are her grandsons and wives, Charles Robert and Beth Shaver Porter of Little Rock, John Alton and Virginia Wilmuth Porter of Little Rock, Dr. Mark Allen Moseley Jr. and his wife Areta Hill Moseley of Fayetteville; her six great-grandchildren, Emery Elizabeth Porter, Reese Tinsley Porter, Jack West Porter, Molly Catherine Moseley, Emma Bartlett Moseley, and Elijah Jack Moseley.

Her brief demise and death were caused by heart failure. “Oh death, where is thy sting?”

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 2:30 p.m at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Zach Roberts officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time. The family requests memorials be made in Carolyn’s honor to the First United Methodist Church in Blytheville.
