Cecil Ray Chew

Cecil Ray Chew was born Nov. 11, 1958, in Blytheville. He was the son of Bernice Murphy Chew and Eddie Chew. Cecil was employed by Blytheville Public Works for 18 years, he also worked at Red Barn and Delta Cab service. He was called Ray by friends and family and was a true friend to everyone. He enjoyed washing cars and hanging out with family and friends.

He departed this life on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at the age of 63. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Bernice Chew; two brothers, Jerry Williams and Don E. Murphy; and two sisters, Denise Cook and Barbara Lucas.

He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Cecil Chew, Jr. of Conway, Tristan Steele of Nashville, Tenn., and Rodriquez (Roberta Allen) of Blytheville; three daughters, Rochelle Gunby, Katrina (Terry) Reed, and Raven (Tray) Jackson, all of Blytheville; three brothers, Homer (Terri) Campbell, Michael (Betty) Chew of Blytheville and Eddie Chew, Jr. of Milwaukee, Wis.; four sisters, Sherry Lynn (Darrell) Talley of Luxora, Jacqueline Lowery of Las Vegas, Nev., Mechelle Chew and Lisa Chew, both of Blytheville; 20 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, at 12:00 noon until services time at 2 p.m. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist, 1110 Promiseland Road, Blytheville. Reverend Frederick Clary, Sr. is the pastor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Frederick Clay, Sr. will deliver the eulogy with burial to follow at Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery.
