Alex Heard

Alex Heard was born July 29, 1933, in Swift Town, Miss., to Clarence and Lessie Heard. He departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at his residence in Blytheville at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Alex served in the United States Army and was a retired deputy for Mississippi County Sheriff Department.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linnie Heard of Blytheville; two daughters, Phillis Griffin of Muskogee, Okla., and Susan Harden of Stanford, Vir.; four sons, Windall Heard of Kansas City, Mo., Fred Haynes and Christopher Mathis, both of Blytheville, and Shaquan Haynes of Cartersville, Ga.; one brother, Sylvester Heard of Blytheville; 15 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, at New Mt. Olive M.B. Church Blytheville, at 12:00 (noon).
