Katherine Lorina Hunt

Katherine Lorina Hunt, 91 years young, reached out and took the hand of Jesus on Dec. 15, 2021. She was born July 27, 1930, in St Louis, Mo., to Gottlieb and Esther Albrecht. She was a young child during the Great Depression yet she remembers how hard life was and how her parents struggled to feed their family. She grew up and attended school in St. Louis and in the mid to late ’70s ventured off to California and Nevada. Katherine was known for her strength and perseverance. She knew more struggles throughout her life than many of us will ever know. Katherine was an excellent cook and enjoyed fresh from her garden southern delicacy in the form of poke sallet and wilted mustard greens with bacon. Katherine lived a full and wonderful life. This beautiful redhead never met a stranger and never forgot a face. She loved wearing hats, getting all dolled up with make-up, sweet smelling perfume and going dancing.

She had many accomplishments during her life yet what Katherine was most proud of was her son William. She cherished the time she had with him. Her family members say there is no way to put into words how special Katherine was or how much she loved them and made each one of them feel treasured. They believe she had a true servant’s heart. Taking care of her family was her mission in life and she did it with grace and love. There was never a time that they did not know just how very much she loved them. Katherine gave them the things that money can never buy: a special cake on a birthday, long conversations over fresh-brewed coffee and sweets, phone calls to check in, smiles and laughs to celebrate the joys in life, a shoulder to cry on in the darkest hours and plenty of hugs and kisses. Katherine left a special place in the hearts of all those she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gottlieb and Esther (Orth) Albrecht; three brothers, Lester Albrecht, Jr. Gottlieb Albrecht and DeWayne Freeman; two sisters, Marie Martin and Leona Dunkan.

Katherine is survived by her son, William Hunt of Manila, and two brothers, Alfred Albrecht and Arthur Freeman, both of Miami, Fla. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews and a host of lifelong friends.

There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at the Manila Cemetery. Tri-City LLC Crematory Funeral Home is honored and privileged to serve the family of Katherine Hunt. Online condolences may be left at www.tri-cityllc.com.
