Ruth Ann Ashmore Brown, 83, of Armorel, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021.

Ruth Ann was born in Armorel to Lewis and Ruth (Priest) Ashmore. Her faith in Christ was the center of her existence, followed closely by her love of family. Ruth Ann was a lifelong and devoted member of Armorel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and kept nursery for AWANAs. She will be remembered for creating beautiful wedding cakes, being a wonderful cook and her love of flowers.

She was loved by many. She wasn’t just Ruth Ann…she was also Ruthie, Aunt Ruthie, and Momma. By her AWANA kids she was “Ms. B”. However, she will always be remembered by her favorite name, Granny.

She was preceded in death by one brother, James “Bud” Ashmore; one sister-in-law, Brenda Cassidy Ashmore; one son, Gregory Brown; and one nephew, Jeff Kinkead.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Billy B. Brown; three children, Charles Edward Brown (Karen) of Armorel, Paul Douglas Brown of Batesville, and Sharon Brown Tudor (Kevin) of Mount Sterling, Ky.; five grandchildren, Justin Brown (Meghan) of Manila, Christopher Brown (Callie) of Blytheville, Katelyn Brown Weaver (Garrett) of Manila, Forrest Tudor and Meredith Tudor of Lexington, Ky.; three great-grandchildren, Addison Brown, Nora Grace Brown, and Charlye Kate Weaver; four brothers, Hugh Don Ashmore (Martha), Joe Ashmore (Nadine), Danny Ashmore, Jack Ashmore (Glenda); one beloved sister, Carolyn Ashmore Kinkead, and one sister-in-law, Mary Jo “Jodie” Ashmore. She is also survived by great-nephew, Tyler Kinkead (Kristal), and great-nieces, Loren Kinkead Faulkenberry (Brian), Ashley Kinkead, and great-great-grandniece, Astaria Kinkead.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Ruth Ann’s caregivers - Ann, Katie, Jennie, and the Legacy Hospice Team - Ashley, Chelsey, Kylie, Reagan, Floyd, Nikki, JoAnne, Markus, Rosa, Mara, Baylee, Andrea and Amy.

And a note of deepest love and thanks to her sister Carolyn for her devotion and care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at Armorel Baptist Church with Rev. John Wofford and Rev. Matt Corkran officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at Armorel Baptist Church. The family requests that any memorials be made to Armorel Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Justin Brown, Christopher Brown, Forrest Tudor, Tyler Kinkead, Kevin Tudor and Garrett Weaver, Gavin Ashmore and Danny Ashmore.
