John Wayne Cook, 70, of Dell, passed from this life Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Clovis, Calif., and raised in Fresno, he was the son of the late Robert James and Geneva Carmack Cook and had been a resident of Dell since 2008. John was a 1979 graduate of Central High School in Fresno where he was a four-year varsity football player. A longtime resident of California, he made his home in Dell in 2008. He had been the owner of Jackie's Diesel Repair for 34 years, retiring in 2019. Things that brought pleasure in John's life was working on cars, but mainly taking his wife fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Lynn Cook, in January, 2020.

Survivors include three sons, Marc McLendon of Fresno, Calif., James McLendon (Karen Gravenish) of Rapid City, S.D., and John Cook, Jr. (Christina Patterson) of Naperville, Ill.; his daughter, Michelle Cook of Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Diane Stidham and Tammi Garner, both of Fresno. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
