Mrs. Josephine Rodgers, 96, of Steele, Mo., was born in Jonestown, Miss., to Samuel and Lenora Cotton Connor. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Steele.

Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Rodgers; sons, David, Arthur Joe, Charles, James and Eddie; and a daughter, Gloria Shun.

Mrs. Rodgers passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at River Oaks Nursing Center in Steele.

She is survived by two sons, John L. Rodgers of Steele, Mo., and Tony (Dorothy) Rodgers of Madison, Ill.; two daughters, Rosa Rodgers of Alton, Ill., and Betty (Sammie) Southern of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Faye Sutton of Steele, Mo.; and a devoted daughter-in-law, Shirley Rodgers of Steele, Mo.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday beginning at 12 noon at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 111 Boswell Street, Steele, Mo. Reverend James Hill is the pastor and will deliver the eulogy with burial to follow at new Hope Cemetery in Yarbro.
