Evelyn L. Ward of Blytheville passed away June 18, 2021. Evelyn was born in Louisville, Miss., to Joe and Lucille (Palmer) Taggart. Eventually moving to Arkansas, she graduated from Osceola High School in 1954. In 1956, she married her only love, Bill Ward; they were married for 64 years. Evelyn’s professional career was spent with Ark-Mo Power and Light, now Entergy, to which she retired after 31 years. A woman of devout faith, Evelyn was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Blytheville. She also was a member of the Blytheville Woman’s Club and served as corresponding secretary for four years.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who passed away March 20, 2021, and three brothers-in-law. She leaves one son, Bob Ward (Sheila) of Blytheville; one daughter, Judy Holland (Reggie) of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Amy Wills (Andy) of Jonesboro, Dan Ward (Amy) of Alexander, and Mitch Holland of Springdale; four great-grandchildren, Murray, Ledger, Emerson and Henry; four sisters, Doris Sutton, Bobbie Gatewood, both of West Memphis, Joy Pratt (Randall) of Jonesboro, and Joanne Driver of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two special cousins who were more like siblings, William Mobley Hurst of Bartlett, Tenn., and Shirley Johnson of Mesquite, Texas.

Because Evelyn and Bill left a legacy of devotion to God, family and community, there will be a celebration of life for them both at 2 p.m. Friday June 25, in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Jumper officiating. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.

The family requests that any memorials be made to the Blytheville Humane Society or First Presbyterian Church.
