Christine Doris Crosby Orr

Christine Doris Crosby Orr was born Jan. 2, 1955 in Osceola, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Tuggle Crosby. A 1973 graduate of Osceola High School, Christine continued her education at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, graduating with a BSA Degree in Secondary Education. In 1990, she received her Master of Secondary Education Degree from Arkansas State University. Christine worked in the Osceola School District for eight years teaching special education. Upon moving to Blytheville, she continued enriching the minds of our youth by becoming a special education teacher in the Blytheville School District until her retirement in 2015, teaching school for 38 years.

She attended Dominion World Outreach Ministries under the leadership of Dr. Sharon Nesbitt. There, Christine was an active member of her church until her health failed. She served a part of the Hospitality Team, Deliverance Team, Prayer Team, Bible Study Group, taught classes on forgiveness and Praise Dancing.

While at Philander Smith College, Christine pledged Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. In 1978, she was a charter member of Iota Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority in Blytheville, where she was an active member of her chapter.

Christine made her transition into eternal life on May 19, 2021, at her home in Blytheville surrounded by her loving family at the age of 66. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 35 years Marty Orr; one son, Christopher (Brianna) Orr of Chicago, Ill.; four brothers, Thomas (Adrian) Crosby of Chicago, Ill., Charles (Wynne) Crosby of Kankakee, Ill., Freddie (Mary) Byrd of Osceola and Edgar Earl (Sylvia) Byrd of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Emma Gathen and Willa (Theodor) Brown, both of Blytheville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 28, from 11 a.m. until1 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at Frontline Family Outreach Ministries, 120 E. Walnut Street, Blytheville, where the pastors are Reverend Raymond and Mary Golphin. Dr. Sharon Nesbitt will deliver the eulogy with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
