Gussie Mae Brown of Blytheville was born July 17, 1937, in Macon, Miss., to the late Earnest Casey and the late Annie Mae Griggs Spann. She was a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Moriah M.B. Church of Blytheville, where she was president of the Mother Board. Mrs. Brown passed away April 13, 2021, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Casey; her mother, Annie Mae Griggs Spann; and her husband, Eddie Lee Brown, Sr.

She is survived by seven sons, Jesse Brown, Sr. (Shirley) of Blytheville, Earnest Casey (Janet) of Chicago, Ill., Eddie Lee Brown Jr. (Juanita) of Blytheville, Pastor Aaron Brown (Annie Jean) of Greenwood, Miss., Leslie Brown, Sr. (Bobbie) of Columbus, Ga., Little Anthony Brown (Mary Ann) of Blytheville, David Brown (Donna) of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Virginia Brown of Blytheville, Cassie Brown of Nashville, Tenn., and Sheila Brown of Blytheville; five brothers, Julius Spann of Macon, Miss., Theodus Casey (Debra) of Kansas City, Mo., Larry Casey of Colorado Spring, Colo., Tyrone Casey of Kansas City, Mo., Jerome Casey of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Anna Lee Rucker of Macon, Miss., and Catherine Dooley of Detroit, Mich.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 23, from 5-7 p.m. at Mt. Moriah M.B. Church in Blytheville. The funeral will be held Saturday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Prince of Peace in Blytheville, with Pastor Aaron Brown officiating. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blytheville. Services are provided by Wilson Funeral Home Blytheville.
