Constance “Connie” Lawless Swanigan

Constance “Connie” Lawless Swanigan was born in Osceola July 16, 1955, to Kyser and Nevator Franklin Whitehorn. Connie was a kindhearted woman that loved her family and friends. She graduated high school in Buffalo, N.Y., and received her Associates Degree from Mississippi County Community College (ANC). Connie was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Heritage Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Center before her retirement. Connie attended Jeremiah Spiritual Church as a young lady under the leadership of Bishop Roscoe Roberson.

Preceded in death by her parents, one son Kyser Johnson, a daughter Deshawnda Lawless, a half-brother Calvin Newsome, and former husband Leroy Swanigan, Jr., Connie passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Great River Medical Center at the age of 65.

She leaves to mourn the memories one son Michael Merriweather of Jonesboro; one daughter Lolar Johnson of Blytheville; one brother Stevie Whitehorn of Blytheville; and one sister Brenda (Thomas “Catfish”) Gray also of Blytheville; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 10, from 5-7 p.m. in the chapel of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home, 1207 South Division St., Blytheville.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church of Christ, 1100 South Lake St., Blytheville. Evangelist Gloria Williams is the Spiritual Leader. Reverend Jay Slaughter will deliver the eulogy with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
