Orville Freeman

On Jan. 11, 2021, God called Orville Freeman of Lexa home to heaven. Orville was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Bay Village to Maude Eva (White) and James Newton Freeman. Orville was a faithful servant of God. He loved the Lord and he lived his life serving Him. A long-time member of Second Baptist Church in West Helena, Orville had recently been elected as Chairman of the Deacons and served as a deacon, teacher, choir member with his beautiful bass voice, numerous committees and any other needed service. His life had a positive impact on many. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bert (Massey) Freeman; two brothers, James Freeman and Alfred Freeman; and two sisters, Vera Woods and Bobbye Holland.

Orville was a loving husband, Daddy (Papa), PawPaw, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves his wife, Betty Freeman of Lexa; daughters, Wilma Mallard (Scotty) of Paragould, Gail Ford (Edwin) of Jonesboro, Judy Darnell of Paragould, Sandy Snyder of Fayetteville, Tracy Henderson of Walnut Ridge and bonus daughters, Lisa Silvey (Horace) of Pine Bluff, Judy Lederman (Mickey) of West Helena and Tracy Miles (Matt) of Jonesboro; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of other much loved relatives and friends to cherish his memory.

Graveside services were officiated by Brother Mike Collins on Jan. 16 at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church in West Helena or to the West Helena Gideon Society.
