Ruth “Nanny” Arlene Fears

Ruth “Nanny” Arlene Fears, 71, of Cave City, formerly of Gosnell, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Ruth was born in Manila to Charles and Lucille Wiggins Giles. She was a retired migrant tutor for the Gosnell School District and was a member of Pathway Church of God. Ruth was a longtime Gosnell resident before moving to Cave City in July of 2020 with her husband Gary. Ruth was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed spending her time cooking, reading and working outside in her flower beds. She loved to decorate and was always rearranging her furniture and making beautiful flower arrangements for her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her stepfather, Frankie Poff.

Ruth leaves her husband, Gary, of the home; four children, Lisa McMahon and her husband Danny of Arlington, Tenn., Lori Davis and her husband Jerry Dan of Cave City, Chris LaRue and his wife Beth of Gosnell and Rebecca Greenway and her husband Marc of Dell; 12 grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, Cassie, Carrie, Kayliegh, Kenzie, Dustin, Caitlyn, Tucker, Madison, Avery and Dustin D.; and four great-grandchildren, Madi, Joey and Dani and one on the way.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 3:30 p.m. in Manila Cemetery with Rev. Danny Rigney and Rev. Bobbie Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines, no more than 80 people will be allowed to gather inside of Cobb Funeral Home and practice social distancing, keeping a 6-foot distance between one another. Face masks are required to enter the building and worn at all times.
