Jimmy Maxwell Flanigan

Jimmy Maxwell Flanigan, 76, of Manila, passed from this life Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at The University of Arkansas for Medical Science Hospital in Little Rock. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Jesse and Ida Bollinger Flanigan and had been a lifelong Manila resident. He was a retired industrial mechanic with Milwaukee Tool Manufacturing, formerly of Blytheville with 30 years of service. Jimmy was a longtime drag racing enthusiast. He not only enjoyed building and racing cars, but took pride in teaching others to race. He was a lifelong member of Blackwater Baptist Church near Manila. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Cook.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Minnie Williams Flanigan of the home; his son, Shane Flanigan and wife Lequita; his daughter, Rebeccia Misner, all of Manila; one sister, Alma East of Fort Worth, Texas. He also leaves three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Allen Glass officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Gerald Williams, Roy Paul Davidson, Walter Moore, Sammy Williams, Alan Main and Kenny Scott. 

The family will receive visitors Monday from noon until service time. In compliance with the state's directive regarding COVID-19, attendance will be limited and face masks and social distancing will be required inside the funeral home at all times.
