Hattie Mae Evans was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Crawfordville. She departed this world on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 in Salinas, Calif. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elnora Corder, and father, Ben Woodard; husband, Eddie B. Evans; three children, Shellie McLoyd, Tony Evans and Geraldine Smothers; two grandsons, Marcus Griffin and Clarence Evans Jr.; a granddaughter, Cheryl Annette Bright; two brothers, Theodore Bates and Lincoln Billiups; and one great-great-grandson, TyLin Leonard.

She leaves behind 12 children, Eddie Mae (Clarence) Buchanan, Marina, Calif., Edward (Debra) Evans, North Charleston, S.C., Clarence Evans, North Chicago, Ill., Nancy Evans, Naperville, Ill., Gloria Tiggs, Kettering, Ohio, Patricia Griffin, Richmond, Texas, Paul Evans Sr., Blytheville, Carolyn Evans, Naperville, Ill., Terri Evans-Hill, Pebble Beach, Calif., Gregory (Regina) Evans, Blytheville, Alice (Matthew) Johnson, Little Rock; 41 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Essie L. Smith of Blytheville and Earlean (Joe) Labus Henderson, Nev.; one brother, LaRay Thomas of Henderson, Nev.; a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at Struve and Laporte, 41 W. San Luis St., 93901. Burial will be directly after service at San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont St., Monterey, Calif. 93940.
