Pauline Cornish, 90, of Monette, passed peacefully from this life Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born Dec. 9, 1930, to the late Heayron and Ethel Ashburn Perkins, she had been a lifelong Monette area resident. We grieve her passing but take great comfort in knowing she is with the Lord, her husband of 70 years, Rev. Clarence Cornish, their two sons, Doug Cornish and John Cornish, their oldest granddaughter, Hollie Cornish-Boyett, as well as a multitude of other family and loved ones who were anxiously awaiting her arrival. We are sure a wonderful celebration has begun!

She and her late husband both attended Wallace Community School which is now Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church. They were married in 1948 and over the years they had seven children. Pauline was a stay-at-home mom and wife of a minister and farmer. She lived a sacrificial life, always putting the needs of her family before her own, rising early, preparing wonderful meals, working in the garden, canning endless jars of vegetables, sewing, washing and cleaning. She was always there with loving care day or night when we were sick. When her husband would come in after working on the farm, she would have his bath ready, his clothes laid out and supper prepared. He would eat, bathe, change clothes and leave to visit the sick in the hospital. Pauline labored alongside her husband in the ministry, teaching a Sunday school class, preparing food for the sick or bereaved, always ministering to others without thought or complaint. Together they served Refuge General Baptist Church in Lake City and Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church in Monette. She loved working in her flower beds and she also loved to journal, writing special memories of each day, always seeing the good! She will be greatly missed by all of her family and so many dear friends.

Survivors include two sons, Tony Cornish and his wife Gina of Pocahontas and Rev. Ernest Cornish and his wife Kathy of Monette; three daughters, Kathy Ferguson and her husband Joe of Jonesboro,

Janet McFarland and her husband Dannie of Needham and Shirley Miller and her husband Barry of Steele, M.; one sister, Peggy Harper of Sedgewick. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Ernest Cornish and Rev. Joe Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the Monette Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
