Lewis T Smith, 71, of Blytheville, passed away at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, surrounded by his wife, sisters, and granddaughter. He was born at Four Mile, Campbell, Mo., on Nov. 14, 1949, at his parent’s home, to Claude Harvey and Anna Mae Smith (Hicks).

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Harvey and Anna Mae Smith; his granddaughter, Lakota Faith Eldridge; his brothers, Robert Dale Smith and Bill Downs; his brother-in-law, Robert Anthony Billington; his niece, Amelia Baker (Stafford); and his in-laws, Harry Atlee and Mary Billington (Koehler).

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Ann Smith (Billington); his children, Katie Hire and husband Tom of Haughton, La., Anna Lee Smith and Scott Atlee Smith of Bossier City, La., and Pauline Elizabeth Smith of Gosnell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren Alicia, Zachary Brandon, Marissa Nicole, and Brookelyn Claire Hire, and Christopher Austin Eldrige; his sisters and brothers, Claudia Ann Benson, Elizabeth Kaye Baker and husband Vernon, Alma Lee Smith and husband Ronald, John Downs and wife Connie, Ronnie Downs and wife Robin, Donnie Downs, Laverne Jones and husband Gil, and Betty Ann Speer; his in-laws, Kathy Clubb and husband Rick, Debora Rayburn and husband Jimmy, Skip Billington and wife Donna, Eric Billington, and Rebecca Deering; as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Lewis served his country for 20 years in the United Started Air Force, retiring on Jan. 1, 1989, as a Master Sergeant. He served in Okinawa, Japan and Thailand during the Vietnam War. He received numerous commendations and awards for his service. He continued working as a civilian until retiring from Tenaris-Hickman Corporation on Dec. 31, 2014.

Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blytheville, on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020 at 11 a.m. A funeral mass will follow at 12 p.m. His ashes will be interred at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Mo., following the funeral mass.
