Wednesday, September 23, 2020

James Albert “Jim” Sims went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sept. 20, 2020. He was born on Nov. 8, 1952, in Jackson, Miss., the son of Bob and Susie Sims, stepson of Lum Creed, and the brother of Bob Sims, Jr., all deceased.

He graduated from Central High School, and attended University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He married Peggy Herlein in 1975 and they had two children.

Jim worked for many years in the fuel and oil business and he opened Star Petroleum in Blytheville in 1996. After many successful years, he sold the business and served as a consultant for the next two years, before he retired. Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all 'round outdoors-man, and conservationist, who loved the Arkansas Razorbacks, golf and hosting large gatherings of family and friends at their home.

Jim leaves his wife of 45 years, Peggy Herlein Sims, of Blytheville; a daughter, Heather (Tra) McMinn and a son, Philip McNeill Sims, both of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren, Nathan, Alex and Brianna McMinn.

A celebration of life for family, friends and business associates will be held Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. at their home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his name be made to the Humane Society of Blytheville and Northeast Arkansas Humane Society in Jonesboro. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
