Mable Burris, 99, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at her loving family’s home in Jonesboro.

Mable was born in Lepanto to William Clayton “Preacher” and Rosie Mae Roberts Cotton and was a member of Heartland Pentecost Church of God. She and her husband Max settled in the little community known as Calumet and gave birth to nine children in a three-room house. She loved to cook (the more the merrier), embroider, and fellowship with friends and family. She traveled coast to coast by car and plane to visit family and friends. When traveling by air, Mable would call the travel agent days in advance to be sure her plane was going to be on time. She was ALWAYS ready to go. Mable was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her church and was very active in her church all of her life. She was a founding member of the church and was crowned The Heartland Queen for her 90th birthday.

In her own words, “I have lived a good life. My family and in-laws were wonderful.”

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Max Burris; her parents; infant son, Max Jr.; loving son-in-law, Perry Tomboc; and three stepbrothers, Albert, Everett and Earl.

Mable leaves her children, Mildred “Millie” Hollar and her husband Roy of Jonesboro, William “Bill” Burris and his wife Memory of Arizona, Donald “Don” Burris and his wife Jan of Johnstown, Colo., Marjorie “Margie” Girard and her husband Bob of West Chester, Ill., Rita Tomboc of Jonesboro, Gary Burris and his wife Carol of Blytheville, Kenneth Dewayne Burris and his wife Debbie of Bartlett, Ill., and Edward “Ed” Burris and his wife Anette of South Elgin, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, Billy Burris, Lisa Sinatra, Sandra Burris, Keith Hollar, Vickie Hollar, Bobby Burris, Eddie Panzer, Jason Burris, Kristen Parker, Adam Burris, Brandon Burris, Matt Burris, Jeremy Burris and Tera Wilson; 12 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great-grandchildren.
