Williams Allen “Bob” Bomar, Sr.

Williams Allen “Bob” Bomar, Sr. was born Nov. 21, 1939, in Pemiscot County, Mo., to Henry German Bomar, Sr. and Mary Holbert Bomar. He passed away June 7, 2020 in Steele, Mo., at the age of 80.

Bob was a Baptist and a U.S. Army veteran. He had been employed as a farm worker and then worked at Motor Appliance in Blytheville for 12 years before his retirement. He enjoyed working on cars and lawnmowers, and especially loved older cars. 

He was united in marriage to Doris Thompson Bomar on March 7, 1966, in the Dogskin community of Pemiscot County. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry German Bomar, Sr. and Mary Bomar; five sisters, Fannie Ruth McKenna, Mary Nona Bomar, Peggy Sue Bomar, Johnnie Cecil Bomar and Betty Flowers. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Bomar of Steele, Mo.; his children, William Allen Bomar Jr. of Glencoe, Pam Middleton and husband Lee of Caruthersville, Mo., Mary Johns and husband Billy of Steele, Scotty Bomar and his wife Natalie of Steele; seven grandchildren, Charles Allen Copeland and wife Michelle, Madison Copeland, Matt Middleton, Leslee Bomar, Jarred Bomar, Briley Bomar and Brayden Bomar; one great-granddaughter, Presley Kate Copeland; one brother, Henry German Bomar, Jr., of Farmington, Mo.; and one sister, Carolyn Barton of Campbell, Mo. 

Services were held June 10 at Powell Funeral Home in Steele with Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with pallbearers, Charles Allen Copeland, Jarred Bomar, Matthew Middleton, Billy Johns, Lee Middleton, Jackie Dale Lancaster and David Lancaster. 

Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
