Churchill Buck Young
Churchill Buck Young of Rocky Mount, N.C., died June 11, 2020. She was born Dec. 16, 1921 in Blytheville, the fourth daughter of Judge Churchill Marlborough Buck and Elizabeth Blythe Buck. Young was preceded in death by her parents and three older sisters, Annabeth Buck Wooten, Jane Blythe Buck Betts and Poly Ann Buck Williams.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. M. Neely Young II, (Myra), Lexington, Vir., and Churchill Buck Young (Sherry), Rocky Mount, N.C.; two grandsons, Joshua Neely (Kelly) and Carter Young; two granddaughters, Blythe Young Moore (Jay) and Churchill Clendenin (William); four great-grandsons, Jordan Young, Kingston Moore, Levi Moore and Silas Clendenin; and a special niece and her husband, Mary Beth Betts Ayes and Charlie Ayes.
Young graduated from Blytheville High School and attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Young was a respected member of the advertising community as media director of several top agencies in the South. She was a life-long Episcopalian and long-time member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Rocky Mount where she served as Junior EYC leader, taught Sunday School, in several women’s guilds, and was twice a member of the vestry.
A family service and inurnment will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd Columbarium.
