Gwendolyn Grant was born Oct. 22,1959, in Turrell to Eddie Mae Carter Cooney and the late Fred Cooney. She was a worker for American Greetings for over 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Grant passed away April 22, 2020, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 60. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Cooney.
She is survived by her mother, Eddie Mae Carter Cooney of Blytheville; her husband, Elton Grant, Sr. of Gosnell; son, Elton Grant Jr. of Jonesboro; three daughters, Crystal Grant, Marci Grant and Jasmine Grant all of Gosnell; two brothers, Hosea Cooney and Robert Cooney, both of Joiner; one uncle, James Cooney of Rockville, Md.; aunt, Ida Nunn of Joiner; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at St. Mark M.B. Cemetery in Joiner, with Rev. Waldo Campbell. In compliance with the CDC, the Governor and the Arkansas Funeral Director Association, due to the COVID-19 virus , all public gathering of more than 10 people held indoors are prohibited. Visitation and funerals will be held for immediate family members only. This directive is enforceable by law. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
