Brenda Jeanette Wheeler, 71, of Monette, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at her home.

She was born Jan. 1, 1949, in Rivervale to the late Benjamin and Lula Shasteen. Brenda was a certified nurse’s assistant and was of the Assembly of God faith. She loved to watch t.v. and spend time with her grandkids and to read her Bible.

She is survived by her daughters, Holly Bowman of Monette and Dawn Overman (Gary) of Caraway; grandchildren, Bryce Overman (Kyle) of St. Petersburg, Fla., Bethany Poole (Dustin) of Monette and Ben Sands of Marked Tree; great-grandchildren, Baili Poole and Jackson Sands; a sister, Bobbie Smart of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and an adopted daughter, Kim McCormick, and many other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Norman Wheeler; a son, Norman Keith Wheeler; siblings, Doyle Shasteen, Juanita Rutledge, Sherman Shasteen, Larry Shasteen, Claudine Coggins and Louise Stallings.

A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Kelems officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joey Henry, Mark Shasteen, Donnie Barnes, Telly Dawson, Shaun Kelems and Dustin Kelems and as honorary pallbearers, Gary Overman, Bryce Overman, Ben Sands and Dustin Poole.
