Calvnita Batton "Nita" Halfacre

Calvnita Batton "Nita" Halfacre, 86, of Manila, widow of Dell Van Halfacre, passed from this life Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at her home. Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late Cletus Melton and Dollie Brinkley Batton and had been a lifelong Manila resident. "Nita" was a 1952 graduate of Manila High School and was retired from DVAN VELCO MFG. Company, formerly of Manila, where she served as both bookkeeper and secretary for over 30 years. She and her late husband were charter members of the Big Lake Country Club, and she was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association in Manila. She also served on the Manila Depot Committee for many years. Nita enjoyed playing golf, bowling, dancing and playing bridge. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Manila. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Tony Halfacre, and a grandson, Bryan Craine.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Tommy Jacoby of Manila. She also leaves four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the First Baptist Church in Manila with Dr. Matt Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family will receive visitors Friday afternoon from 1:30 until service time at the church.
