Ida B. Fowler Shannon

Ida B. Fowler Shannon of Blytheville was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Blytheville to the late Troy Fowler and the late Cora Bynum McWay. She was a homemaker and was the oldest member and an usher for Carters Temple C.M.E. Church in Blytheville. Mrs. Shannon passed away Feb. 9, 2020, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro at the age of 94.

She was preceded in death by her father, Troy Fowler; mother; Cora Bynum McWay; her husband, Millard Shannon; four sons, Millard Shannon, Jr., Joe Eddie Shannon, James Shannon and Sydell Shannon; two daughters, Betty Shannon and Mattie Bass; and two brothers, James Fowler and Claude Fowler.

She is survived by four sons, Glen (Debra) Shannon of Chandler, Ariz., Aaron (Berta) Shannon, Donald Shannon and Bruce Shannon, all of Blytheville; two daughters, Gennette Brown of Buford, S.C., and Gilda Patterson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one sister, Mattie Sutton of Memphis, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Carters Temple C.M.E. Church in Blytheville with the funeral immediately following at 2 p.m. Pastor Henry Mays and Pastor Jeff Flanagan will be officiating. The burial will be held at New Hope Cemetery in Yarbro. Services are provided by Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville.
