Catherine Lay Buck, 93, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 18, 2020, in Half Moon.

Cathy was born in Pocahontas, Vir., to Michael and Pauline Danish. After the death of her father when she was 10, Cathy was blessed with a loving stepfather, Ernest Lay. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; and sister, Mary Millwood.

Cathy grew up in a military family and lived all over the country. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Billy Buck of Half Moon. Due to his service in the United States Air Force, they had the adventure of living in Virginia, Germany, California, Alaska, Maine and Arkansas. She took pride in her home and her children to whom she was dedicated. Cathy was blessed with six children: Kitty (Jimmy) Manlove, Cynthia Tomaskovic, Debra Crellin, Billy (Ann) Buck, Kenny (Rita) Buck and Cheryl (Mark) Payne. She loved spending time with her eight grandchildren: Susan (Billy) Grey, Breanna (Derrick) Couch, Bailey Buck, Cobi (Case) Watson, Kendra Buck, Morgan Payne, Brista Buck and Shaylynn Boozy. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Aspyn Akau, Ava Catherine Couch, Abbigale, Ayden and Airon Boozy.

Cathy was known for her great sense of humor, the pride she took in taking care of her home and family, and a loving heart. Her family feels immensely blessed to have had such a loving wife, mother, and Nanny.

The family would like to thank the loving care of Dr. Blachly, Kristy, and Mary of Home Health Professionals and Hospice, Inc., and Peggy Wilson who tirelessly provided comfort to Cathy in her final days.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation.
