Howard Malcolm “Mel” Peabody, 83, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Gosnell Therapy and Living Center.

Born in Pittsburg, Penn., to Vaughn E. and Catherine Cassidy Peabody, Howard was the former manager of Firestone in Blytheville and a member of First Christian Church. He proudly served in the United States Army right after high school and served in Desert Storm while in the National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion. Howard’s world was his family and everything he did was to take care of them.

If you want to remember Howard, do it with the things he treasured; love your children and parents, adore your grandchildren, adopt a dog, have a good meal, read a good book and most of all, have a Coors in his honor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy; and two brothers, Bob and David Peabody.

Howard leaves four children, Mike Peabody and Shelly of Bartlett, Tenn., Lynn Beverly and Lester of Blytheville, Kim Peabody of Blytheville and Susan Davey and Dennis of Blytheville; and four grandchildren, Daniel Beverly, Alessandra Shockley and Brad, Holly Beverly and Robert, and Mary Davey.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Holly Jo Engle officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
