Doris Ann Ballard, 87, former longtime Caraway resident, and widow of Harvey Junior Ballard, passed from this life Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, at the Community Compassion Center in Jonesboro. Born in Caraway, she was the daughter of the late Herman Clyde and Clara Brooks Barrett and had lived most of her life in the Caraway and Monette areas. She was a retired seamstress and had worked for the Lepanto and Caraway Garment Factories and cherished the friendships she made while working. She loved fishing with her late husband, putting puzzles together, cooking, and sewing for her family. Doris was a member of the Caraway Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Ballard of Hot Springs, Harvey Mike Ballard of Quitman and Bruce Ballard and Sharen White of Herrington, Kan.; two daughters, Judy Wood of Jonesboro and Jann Harris (Roy) of Manila. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel at Leachville with Bruce Primm and Joan Primm officiating. Burial will follow in the Caraway Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
