Donations needed at Blytheville Food Pantry

Saturday, October 5, 2019

To whom it may concern:

I am a volunteer worker at the Blytheville/Gosnell Food Pantry. I have been there for over 10 years now and I have never seen it depleted like this in a long time.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming fast, and we really need food to fill more boxes but we can't do it if people don't get involved.

I know Blytheville has different clubs out there and if members are looking for something to do to help the community, food donations would be appreciated.

You ask, why should I care? Well since I've been working at the food pantry, I have seen a lot and know people who are in desperate need. It would hurt me to see people turned away. Trust me, I know we do have the Mission here in Blytheville, and they help, too but there is only so much they can do.

In addition to food donations, we can use monetary gifts and more volunteers. The food pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Our volunteers come and go. Some moved away, also some have passed away. We also have a clothing ministry and volunteers are needed to sort and hang clothes.

If you are bored with life in general and need something to occupy your mind, this is the ideal way to help.

With myself, personally, I have found you can forget about yourself for a day and focus on others.

It is such a privilege and honor to work there. Helping others makes me feel good about myself.
