Robert Earl Davis, 83, of Gosnell, passed away Sept. 16, 2019 at Gosnell Health Care.

Robert Earl was born to Wesley and Ivy Cooner Davis in Bruce, Miss., and raised by Wesley and Winnie Carter Davis. He lived most of his life in Gosnell and served his country in the U.S. National Guard. He was a retired farmer and of the Department of Agriculture Research Center. Robert Earl served on the Gosnell School Board for over 30 years, was past member of the Quorum Court of Mississippi County, past president of the Mississippi County Electric Co-op Board, secretary for the AECC Board and was a charter member of the Gosnell Lions Club. Robert Earl won the state tractor driving contest for three years and was county champion of the 4-H Club of Mississippi County in 1954. Robert Earl was well known for his humorous stories and quick wit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Dennis Davis.

Robert Earl is survived by his wife, Gail Rhodes Davis of the home; children, Robert “Bubba” Davis (Linda), of Gosnell, Rita Dolph (Dan), of Gosnell, Les Davis (Vickey) of Whitehall, and Casey Davis (Karin), of Gosnell; daughter-in-law, Tammy Davis of Steele, Mo.; three brothers, Wesley, Joe, and Donald Davis, all of Gosnell; four sisters, Maxine Blankenship, Betty Hadden, Linda Garner, and Brenda Davis, all of Gosnell; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Gosnell Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Clemons and Neil Burge officiating. Entombment will follow in Dogwood Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
