Dorothy Fay Hamm

Dorothy Fay Hamm, 88, of Luxora, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 at Heritage Nursing Home in Osceola.

Dorothy was born in Scott Hills, Tenn., to James and Claudie Tucker Wheeler. She was a graduate of Burdette Public Schools and retired from Bush Canning Company and the Armorel School District Cafeteria. Dorothy and her husband Buddy of 70 years lived in Tomato for over 40 years where they raised their seven children. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of Ruddle Road Church of God. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden or in her yard. According to her family, Dorothy was an excellent cook and made the best pecan pies and coconut cake of anyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy; two children, David Hamm and Brenda Faye Summers; and four brothers, Fred, Cornell, Johnny and Odell Wheeler.

Dorothy leaves five children, Linda Wilson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sharyn Parrish of Luxora, Donna Beckwith of Yukon, Okla., Brent “Corkey” Hamm, Jr. of Schaumburg, Ill., and Ray Hamm of Armorel; three sisters, Opal Goodman, Lucille Price and Oleta Neal and her husband O.B., all of Osceola; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her good friend Linda Griffin of Armorel.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Pankey officiating. Burial will be private. The family received friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
