Norman Eual Clay

Norman Eual Clay, of Garden Point/Etowah Community, departed this life Sunday, July 14, 2019, in Osceola. He was born Nov. 7, 1944, to Norman V. and Frances Eual Dodd Clay. He was an Eagle Scout, and a graduate of Missco High School and Arkansas State University. Mr. Clay was a display director and fashion coordinator at several Memphis department stores/outlets including Goldsmiths, Gus Mayer and LeClede’s. He worked as an art teacher at Rivercrest High School and Arkansas Northeastern College. He was known throughout the region for producing/directing large-scale plays and programs involving numerous individuals from area schools and the surrounding communities. He enjoyed painting, reading, and collecting antiques.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two nephews, Don Battles and Clay Brewer, and one niece, Lisa Battles.

Norman is survived by two sisters, Pat Clay Adams of Wilson and Camilla Clay Koch of Jonesboro; two nephews, Patrick Adams and Gary May; three nieces, Tiffany Adams Morgan, Carla Battles Bessinger and Patti Battles Wicklund; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

A gathering will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Wilson United Methodist Church (18 Jackson St. Wilson, AR 72395) followed by a short memorial service.

It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wilson United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the care of Delancey-Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto.
