Opal Eatmon, 98, of Blytheville, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Great River Medical Center.

Born to Nathan Walker (N.W.) and Vera Caviness in New Albany, Miss., she was a devoted homemaker and a charter member of the North Tenth Street Baptist Church. Opal loved to quilt, sew and cook.

She is survived by her sister, Alice Virginia Manning of Blytheville. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, N.W. “Buddy” Caviness, Jr. and Perrin Caviness.

Opal was preceded in death her first husband, Curtis Clark Freeman, and their son, Donnie Wayne Freeman. She is survived by her granddaughter, Melissa Cassidy and her husband Phillip of Jonesboro; great-grandson, Sean Cassidy; and daughter-in-law, Rita Cassidy and her husband Chris of Blytheville.

Opal also was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Eatmon; step-son, Lynn Steven Eatmon, step-daughter, Etta Jean Walker and her husband Eddie; sister-in-law, Carolyn McConaghay; and son-in-law, Calvin George. She is survived by step-son, J.D. Eatmon, Jr. of Brevard, N.C.; two step-daughters, Jeanette George of Jonesboro and Bonnie Joan Crowson, of Kennett, Mo.; son-in-law, Jack McConaghay of South Renovo, Penn.; and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Eatmon of Denver, Colo.; 17 step-grandchildren; and several step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday July 5, in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Wes George officiating. There was no visitation. Burial was private.
