Tommy Swetnam

Tommy Swetnam, 70, of Monette passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born June 15, 1949, in Jonesboro to the late Andrew and Era Clyatt Swetnam. Tommy graduated from Monette High School. He retired from the Monette Volunteer Fire Department after over 25 years of service. He served on the Macey Cemetery Board and was the caretaker for many years. He also was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Swetnam; two daughters, Mindy Smith (Chris) of Jonesboro and Ashley Smith (Drew) of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters, Clyann Leonard of Jonesboro and Mary Lou Gower (Bob) of Timbo; three stepchildren, Heather Hicks, Beth Williams (Greydon) and Christopher Taylor(Jodi); five grandchildren, Cannon Joe Smith, Hunter Taylor, Riley Hicks, Addison Hicks and Kristen Smith; very special longtime friends, Mack Bounds, Larry Ladd, Ronnie McCord and Donna Wood.

A memorial service to celebrate his life was held 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Gregg Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Bird officiating. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers were the Monette High School Class of 1967.

Lasting memorials may be sent to the Macey Cemetery or Monette Fire Department.
