Mary Evelyn Godsey, 80, of Blytheville passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 4, 1938, to Bob and Sue Mason Hammock. She graduated from Dyess High School.

Her husband of 57 years said he met Mary while she was a car hop at Kream Kastle. She later worked at Sterlings, TG&Y, and Walmart, where she retired after 20 years. She was a member of the Emergency Squad for over 50 years. She served as treasurer for several years.

Family says that she was an awesome cook, especially known for her chicken and dressing and her hashbrown casserole. She loved to fish and travel. She enjoyed going to Branson to see the Presley Family Show. She enjoyed computer games and loved her soap operas.

She was very caring, always taking care of others. Everyone says she was always smiling. She was a good wife and mother, and mother-in-law. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Godsey, of the home; two sons, David Godsey (and Sonja) and Bobby Godsey (and Kim), all of Gosnell; six grandchildren, Timothy Godsey and Christopher Godsey, both of Ravenden, Braiden Wiseman of Fort Smith, Jessica Buckingham (and Jason) of Collinsville Ill., Joshua Godsey and Caleb Godsey (Rylee Garner), both of Gosnell; three great-grandchildren, Brody, Carter, Hadlee, and one on the way; five sisters, Sue Allen of Dyess, Ruby Jewell of Paris, Tenn., Bobbie Prince of Springfield, Ala., Nadine McClain of Lepanto and Nan Prentice of Palestine; her dog, Baby; and friends and family that will miss her dearly.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Carney Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Carney officiating. Visitation was from 12:30-2 p.m. Burial was in Carney Cemetery.
