Elmer Jack Martin

Elmer Jack "Leroy" Martin, 95, former longtime Manila resident, passed from this life Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born in Manila, he was the son of the late Robert and Elsie Baggett Martin and had lived most of his life in Manila and southwest Michigan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a self employed millwright. Jack was a member of the American Legion, Herman Davis Post #197 and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives and four sons.

Survivors include four sons, Jackie Martin of Battle Creek, Mich., James Martin of Fayetteville, Ronnie Martin of South Haven, Mich., Mike Martin of Milwaukee, Wis.; nine daughters, Sheri Hammond of Seffner, Fla., Rachael Holt of Pullman, Mich., Barbara Martin of Bay St. Louis, Miss., Donna Walker of Pullman, Mich., Darlene Patrick of Sardis, Miss., Edith Case of Moulttrie, Ga., Joyce Prim of Bangor, Mich., Denise Moorehead of Tennessee and Diane Martin of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one brother, Carl Dean Martin of Manila; one sister, Marveline Weatherford of Manila.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
