Mary Magdalene Rogers Smith

Mary Magdalene Rogers Smith, 89, of Blytheville passes away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born July 18, 1929 in Blytheville she was the daughter of Sam and Matilda Danley Rogers. She was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Adult Choir and was a Mother of the church.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, JP Smith, Sr.; siblings, Pearl, Caroline, Annie Mae, Josephine, Eileen, Sam, LB, TJ, and Ezell; and a great grandson, Kortez.

Mary leaves to forever cherish her memories four daughters, Dorothy Junearick, Shirley (Charles) Mouton, Rose (Frederick) Wilson, and Angela (Arthur) Pointer all of Blytheville; five sons, ML (Ellen) Smith, Sylvester (Diane) Smith of Gosnell; John Henry (Minnie) Smith, Tommy Lee (Shelby) Smith, and JP Smith, Jr. all of Blytheville; 35 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 920 South Lake Street, Blytheville.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, March 2, at Prince of Peace Church, 501 East McHaney Street, Blytheville. Minister Terrell Rogers is the pastor. Bishop Theodis Rucker will deliver the eulogy and burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
