Alice Marie Wadkins

Alice Marie Wadkins, 79, of Blytheville, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Alice was born in Keiser to Joe and Alice Brewer Laire and was a lifelong resident of Blytheville. She was retired from ACCO and a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. Alice was very active within the church and was a Sunday school teacher until she grew ill. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering, all while watching Little House on the Prairie. Alice loved to be outdoors and going camping. She also loved her two dogs, Tiny and Gracie. Her family was her whole life, and was a devoted wife of 49 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Wadkins; her parents; four brothers, James, Franklin, Sid and Boyce Laire; and sister, Ima Jean Watson.

Alice leaves her children, Ernie Dean Wadkins (Darlene) of Preston, Missouri, Dennis Lee Wadkins (Shirley) of Bastrop, Louisiana, Tammy J. Whittle (Ken) of Yarbro, James L. Wadkins, Jr. of Batesville and Ida “Sissy” Deichman of Blytheville; sister, Martha Hollingshed (Ivan) of Bald Knob; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Laire of Mountain View, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends that she thought of as family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8th at 10:00 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell King, Jr. officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Daneri, Richard Statler, Kevin Wadkins, Jimmy Wadkins, Johnny Palmer, Jr. and Buddy Watson. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
