On June 16, 1960, a beautiful healthy baby boy named Kimmie was born to Eugene Lewis and Jerline Spiller in Blytheville. Kimmie grew up in Blytheville where his love for family, friends, food, and basketball all began.

Kimmie graduated with the Class of 79 from Blytheville High School, Home of the Chickasaws. He was very proud to be a part of this class. While learning, he loved playing basketball. In 1979, he helped lead the varsity boys basketball team to a state championship. He was known as “Dr.K’. After he graduated, he attended a local community college, Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville to further his education.

Later, he decided to serve his country by joining the United States Army in May of 1981. He enjoyed a long and successful military career as a Medic Specialist. He served overseas as well as in the States. He received many honors and awards during his active duty. In 2014, after working in various places of employment, he retired deeming himself an Official Retired Veteran. He would proudly let everyone know this.

During his military career, he was blessed with two beautiful daughters Kenyatta and Tanaja, whom he shared with former spouse, Veronica Spiller. He was also blessed to have two handsome sons Kevin Weatherall and Kamar McClendon. He loved his children. He even gained several bonus children Jacqueline Toney, Sgt. Garrett Toney, Cordarry Toney, Lucinta Toney, Dontre Toney, and John Toney Jr. They called him “Pops”. September 3, 2016 Kimmie married Felicia Crutchfield. They loved to travel and enjoyed life together. In this union, he gained several more bonus children Jamia Jones, Jamice Jones, and Joshua Jones, whom he loved. They enjoyed calling him “Mr. Doc”. He remained happily married to Felicia until his passing.

Kimmie Spiller, 58 peacefully departed this life on September 15, 2018 at his home in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Lewis; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Weaver; his maternal grandparents Johni and Captoria Spiller.

He is survived by his loving wife, Felicia Spiller of the home, his mother Jerline Spiller of Blytheville;

his sons Kevin Weatherall (Shashuna) of Atlanta, GA; Kamar McClendon of Los Angeles, CA; his daughters Kenyatta Spiller and Tanaja Spiller both of Huntsville, AL; bonus Children: Jamia Jones, Jamice Jones, and Joshua Jones of Kansas City, MO; Jaqueline Toney, Sgt. Garrett Toney, Cordarry Toney, Lucinta Toney, Dontre Toney, John Toney Jr all of West Helena, AR; his six siblings Karon Spiller (Keith) of Cape Girardeau, MO; Geno Spiller(Jeanette) of Blytheville; Daphnie Spiller-Fair(Billy) of Blytheville; Rosla Spiller of Blytheville; Nina Spiller of Blytheville; other siblings; his Grandchildren Kayla Jefferson, Kevion Weatherall, Kyrielle Weatherall all of Atlanta, GA; his nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Kimmie will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the chapel of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home, 1207 South Division Street, Blytheville, at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Guyton will deliver words of encouragement to the family and friends with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Blytheville.
