Hubert Cecil Short

Hubert Cecil Short, age 81 of Blytheville and formerly of the Chicago, Illinois area passed from the life on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Born to Foy Blaine and Tamar Ellison Short in Rose Hill, Virginia, he was of the Protestant Faith and a retired Receiving Clerk for a major Office Max Corporation where he worked for 42 years. Hubert also served his country with honor in the United States Army where he served in the Medical Corps. The majority of his time in the service was spent at Walter Reed Hospital. Hubert also loved doing carpenter work and building things. He enjoyed being outdoors and growing a garden, which he would share the fruits of his labor with others. Hubert was also a very dedicated son taking care of his mother until her passing. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clyde Short.

Hubert is survived by his brothers; Roy Burg Short of Tucson, Arizona, Leamon Short of Los Angeles, California, Sylvester "Tommy" Short of Blytheville, sisters; Betty Ross and her husband Guy of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Velma Bortis and her husband Sam of Blytheville, Arkansas and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Todd Holman officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery and the family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until service time also at Cobb Funeral Home.
