Mary Virginia Forsythe Franklin

Tuesday, August 28, 2018

Mary Virginia Forsythe Franklin, 75, of Tyler, Missouri, passed from this life into her most glorious eternal life on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at her home.

Mary was born in Blytheville to Holford “Buddy” and Ruby (Lumdsen) Forsythe. As a homemaker Mary gladly took on the daily challenges of being a housewife and mother. Mary brought stability into her home by organizing her schedule to always be a responsible individual to help meet the daily needs that come with running a house hold. Mary was a devoted wife who took her vows seriously and loved her husband Harvey no matter what circumstances arose. Together they lovingly cared for each other for 53 years. Also as a mother she would juggle schedules, providing for her daughters needs helping them with their homework, being the nurse when they needed medical attention or just taking them up in her arms and kissing the boo boos and telling them everything would be alright. She would also be there to share and pray with them when they needed to talk about their problems. The most important characteristic that Mary possessed was the ability to show her children about the love of God by the life which she lived. Together, Mary and Harvey taught their children by example and showed to them their deep seated faith in God. This faith they possessed was always present in the good times but especially in the bad times. It was this faith that also produced the devoted love that Mary had for Harvey, her daughters and her family. This love was to extend to her son in laws as they became part of the family but even more to the lives of her precious grandchildren who became the joy of her life. As a member of Heartland Pentecostal Church, she loved her church and always enjoyed the fellowship with her church family and the services she attended. In her earlier years, Mary loved gardening and planting flowers. Christmas was Mary’s favorite time of the year. She enjoyed decorating the house and cooking for Christmas. Most of all, Mary’s greatest blessing during Christmas was the joy of giving.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey; her parents; and two brothers, Clifton and Dale Forsythe.

Surviving Mary are her four children, Regina Davis (Lyle) of Tyler, Missouri, Teresa Upchurch (Chris) of Boaz, Alabama, Selena Anderson (Jason) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Monica Putman (Dale) of Tyler, Missouri; two brothers, Troy Forsythe (Dixie) of Steele, Missouri and Roy Forsythe (Wanda) of Cooter, Missouri; two sisters, Alma Fournier of Bakersfield, California and Joyce Defoe (Jim) of Blytheville; ten grandchildren, Patrick Ward, Jordan Anderson, Macie Upchurch, Brianna Anderson, Kailee Upchurch, Jacob Anderson, Lauren Putman, Shawn Davis, Amy Keithley and Ryan Putnam; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31st at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Anderson and Rev. Bobby McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Number 8 Cemetery in Cooter. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
