John L. Welch, Sr.

John L. Welch, Sr., 82, of Hosston, Louisiana and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Plain Dealing, Louisiana.

John was born in Kensett, Arkansas to Lewis and Ophie (Lesley) Welch. He was a retired farmer and a member of Gray Baptist Church in Gray, Texas. He was a former employee of Randall Company in Blytheville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora; his parents; two brothers, Lewis and Bruce Welch; three sisters, Grace Lamb, Dorothy Trucks and Cecila Welch; and his granddaughter, Brandy Welch.

John leaves his children, John L. Welch, Jr. and his wife Trudy of Blytheville, Ann Welch of Hosston, Louisiana and Jackie Williams of Vivian, Louisiana; one sister, Mary Evelyn Smith of Blytheville; three grandchildren, Amber Sharp and her husband Jeremy, Matthew Williams and James Ramey and his wife Sheri; and two great-grandchildren, Willow and Aspen Sharp.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18th at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Davis and Rev. Mike Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
