Margaret "Evelyn" Pierce

Margaret "Evelyn" Pierce, 87, of Hot Springs, former longtime Leachville resident and widow of Thomas Ralph Pierce, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Arkansas Hospice of St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs. Born in Pontotoc, Miss., to the late John Thomas and Adell Brown Scott, she was the oldest of six children. At the age of 12, Evelyn moved with her family to Leachville, which she called home for most of her life. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook, a talented seamstress and needlepointer, and a beautiful soul, lite and playful. Evelyn loved doing handicrafts and traveling, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Leachville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Baxley, and a brother, Tom Scott.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Thomas Ralph Pierce, Jr., DDS of Marion and John Christopher "Chris" Pierce of Jonesboro; one daughter, Sharon Dent of Hot Springs; one brother, William "Buck" Scott of Belmont, Mich.; two sisters, Annette Wooldridge of Batesville and Geneva Coolsen of Leachville; seven Kellen Pierce, Tyson Wallace, Thomas Ralph Pierce, III, Stephen Pierce, Amy Fernicola, Chris Pierce, and Rachel Pierce Dent; and seven great-grandchildren, Vivian Wallace, Benjamin Pierce, Samuel Pierce, Evan Pierce, Estella Fernicola, Casey Revel, and Dustin Revel.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a. m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery.

Pallbearers include, Thomas Pierce, III, Stephen Pierce, Pat Fernicola, Thomas Randolph, Evan Pierce, Samuel Pierce and Benjamin Pierce.

The family will receive visitors Saturday from 10 a. m. until service time.
