Sudie Ellen Reeves
Sudie Ellen Simpson Reeves, 91, of Monette, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at NEA Baptist Hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Monette to the late Edgar and Willie Hartsell Simpson. She and her husband Howard owned and operated Reeves Grocery Store for 30 years. Sudie was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, aunt and a devoted Christian and prayer warrior.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Sue and Martin Steed of Monette; grandchildren, Michael Stracener, Tommy Stracener Jr. and Melissa Steed, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Reeves; five brothers, Austin Simpson, Norman Simpson, Estel Simpson, Larry Simpson and Paul Kay Simpson; four sisters, Inez Mullen, Vivian Fletcher, Nina Simpson and Shirley Bronaugh.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Monette First Baptist Church.
A celebration of her life was held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Bird officiating and eulogy by her nephew, Danny Simpson. Interment followed at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Franklin Smithee, Alan Reed, Jerry Knapp, Shannon Morris, Jered Rolland and Kevin Stewart and as honorary pallbearers, nephews and deacons of the Monette First Baptist Church.
Lasting memorials may be sent to Monette First Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
